DESCRIPTION

 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs are distinguished by their longer noses and heavier build from King Charles Spaniel dogs. They have beautiful large dark eyes and long ears. This dog breed has a noteworthy sense of smell and vision and can be used in short hunts. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs are loving and good-natured, love both people and other dogs. He will make a good companion for the young and old alike. A fearless, lively little dog with a cheerful disposition. 

TEMPERAMENT

 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies and dogs are friendly, eager, affectionate tail-waggers. Lively, outgoing and sportive. These fearless lively little dogs want to please. Cavalier\'s love people and need lots of companionship to be happy. They should not be left alone all day. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs make good companion dogs for the elderly or disabled. 

GROOMING

 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies and dogs must be brushed weekly to prevent mats and tangles. Special attention must be given to the hair behind the ears. The Cavalier has a tendency to develop heart abnormalities early in life. It is extremely important to have regular veterinary examinations. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies and dogs are also prone to allergies, deafness, cataracts, and diabetes.

HEALTH

 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs may have problems with patellar luxation, heart murmurs, and hip dysplasia. Other health concerns include eye conditions, ear infections, allergies, syringomyelia, and mitral valve disease. 

EXERCISE

 Minimal exercise is needed for Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs, but they do enjoy a romp in the park or a backyard with a playmate. They should be exercised regularly. A short walk or romp daily will suffice. 

TRAINING

 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies and dogs are highly intelligent and eager to learn. They can be trained in hunting and agility, and also do well in competitive obedience. The Cavalier makes an excellent therapy dog. They respond well to gentle training and high praise.
